With the Kedarnath Temple scheduled to reopen for pilgrims on May 2, 2025, preparations for one of India’s most revered pilgrimage. In a major development for devotees, helicopter bookings for the Kedarnath Yatra 2025 officially opened on April 8, offering a convenient travel alternative to the challenging trek.
Operated under the supervision of the Uttarakhand Civil Aviation Development Authority (UCADA) and booked exclusively through the IRCTC Heli Yatra portal, this air route is ideal for senior citizens, pilgrims with health issues, and those short on time.
Booking Process
Pilgrims must first complete the mandatory Char Dham Yatra registration at registrationandtouristcare.uk.gov.in before proceeding to www.heliyatra.irctc.co.in to book helicopter tickets.

One-way fares for the 2025 season have seen a 5% hike:
Phata – Kedarnath: ₹6,074
Sersi – Kedarnath: ₹6,072
Guptkashi – Kedarnath: ₹8,426
Shorter flights from helipads like Phata (9 minutes) and Sersi (11 minutes) remain popular for their speed and affordability. Helicopter services from Dehradun operate only up to Sersi, where passengers are required to switch choppers to continue their journey to Kedarnath.
Luxury helicopter services are also available, priced between ₹1 lakh and ₹2.5 lakh, offering round trips, priority darshan, meals, assistance, and optional overnight stays.
The IRCTC has released a set of important guidelines for pilgrims booking helicopter tickets to Kedarnath, emphasizing safety, verification, and operational procedures. All passengers must complete mandatory registration and carry original photo ID proof. For infants, a birth certificate or Aadhaar card is required. Digital copies or partially printed tickets will not be accepted.
