Under the "Malinya Muktham Nava Keralam" initiative, Kerala to announce 25 places as the Green Tourism Destinations on October 2, 2024.
Kerala, known as "God's Own Country," is setting a new benchmark in sustainable tourism by identifying 25 locations to be developed as 'Green Tourism Destinations.’ This initiative is part of 'Malinya Muktham Nava Keralam' campaign that aims to make Kerala a garbage-free state by March 30, 2025. The official announcement of the Green Tourism Destination will be made on October 2, on the day of ‘Gandhi Jayanti’.
What is the Green Tourism Program:
The 'Green Tourism Destinations' program in Kerala aims to develop 25 eco-friendly tourist spots by promoting sustainable practices, conserving biodiversity, and involving local communities. This initiative focuses on reducing environmental impact, enhancing waste management, and offering responsible travel experiences, positioning Kerala as a leader in sustainable tourism.
Kite Beach Park in Kasaragod, Iritty Eco Park and Chal Beach in Kannur, Lokanarkavu temple in Kozhikode, Nilambur Teak Museum in Malappuram, Mangalam Dam Park and Kanjirapuzha dam in Palakkad, Peechi dam, Hill View Park and Malankara dam in Idukki, Konni Eco Tourism- Elephant Shelter in Pathanamthitta, Adichanalloor Chira Park and Meenmutti in Kollam, Alappuzha beach, Thenmala Eco Adventure Park, Ponmudi, Ponnumthuruthu and Sasthampara in Thiruvananthapuram are one of the prominent places chosen as Green Tourism Destinations.
