Samruddhi Expressway Fully Operational: Check Travel Time, Toll Fees, EV Benefits

Hrudaysamrat Balasaheb Thackeray Maharashtra Samruddhi Mahamarg is now open for commuters.  

The much-anticipated Nagpur–Mumbai Samruddhi Expressway is now fully operational, marking a major milestone in Maharashtra’s infrastructure landscape. The final stretch connecting Thane to Igatpuri has been inaugurated, making the entire 701-km Hindu Hrudaysamrat Balasaheb Thackeray Maharashtra Samruddhi Mahamarg accessible to commuters.

This six-lane high-speed corridor has drastically reduced travel time between Nagpur and Mumbai. The segment between Thane and Igatpuri, which earlier took over an hour, can now be covered in just 40 minutes. With a speed limit of 120 km/h for cars and 80 km/h for heavy vehicles, the expressway promises faster and smoother journeys, bypassing traffic-prone highways.

To manage access and maintenance, 26 toll booths have been installed along the route. One-way toll rates are fixed based on vehicle type:

• Cars/Jeep (LMV): ₹1,212
• Light Commercial Vehicles: ₹1,955
• Two-Axle Trucks/Buses: ₹4,100
• Three-Axle Trucks/Buses: ₹4,472
• Heavy Construction Machinery: ₹6,435
• Oversized Vehicles (7+ axles): ₹7,830

Commuters can pay tolls using Fastag, cash, or card—ensuring ease of payment across the board.

In a major boost for clean mobility, electric vehicles (EVs) and e-buses have been exempted from toll charges for the next five years. While dedicated EV charging stations are still under development, the initiative signals a strong push toward sustainable transportation.

With all segments now open, the Samruddhi Expressway is poised to transform intercity travel in Maharashtra—offering safer, faster, and greener journeys for all categories of vehicles.
