Thailand extends visa exemption programs for Indian and Taiwanese tourists until November 11th

In a move set to bolster tourism ties between Thailand and India, the Thai government has announced the extension of visa-free entry for Indian nationals until November 11th. This extension comes as welcome news for travelers from India, offering them continued ease of access to Thailand.

A similar exemption has been given to Taiwan. Earlier tourists from India and Taiwan were allowed to stay for 15 days under a visa-on-arrival scheme, but now they can enjoy a stay up to 30 days which gives them ample time to explore Thailand.

As Thailand heavily relies on tourism, this strategic move of easing visa rules is sure to tap key markets and encourage visitor arrivals. The Ministry of Tourism and Sports has reported a substantial rise in foreign tourist arrivals in the first four months of 2024, with over 12 million visitors welcomed, representing a 39% rise compared to the same period last year. Notably, tourists from China, Malaysia, Russia, South Korea, and India constituted half of the total arrivals this year.

The significant move of extending visa-free entry for Indians and Taiwanese tourists is expected to give a much-needed boost to Thailand's tourism sector, which has been grappling with the impact of the global pandemic. By welcoming Indians and tourists from Taiwan with open arms, Thailand aims to revitalize its tourism industry and stimulate economic growth in the post-pandemic era.

Thailand has long been a favored destination for Indian tourists, due to its proximity and affordability. This extension provides an opportunity for more Indian travelers to uncover the diverse offerings like pristine beaches, bustling markets, and rich heritage sites of the Land of Smiles without the hassle of obtaining a visa.
