Thailand grants the privilege of extended visa stays to visitors beginning in June.

In a bid to rejuvenate its tourism industry and bolster educational opportunities, Thailand has announced an extension of visa stays for both students and tourists. This move comes as part of the government's broader strategy to attract more international visitors and foster a welcoming environment for foreign students amid the global recovery from the COVID-19 pandemic.

Thailand Student Visa

Under the updated regulations, tourists from as many as 93 visa-exempt countries will now be able to stay in Thailand for up to 60 days, an increase from the previous 30 days. This extension provides travelers with an additional 15 days to explore Thailand’s rich cultural heritage, stunning landscapes, and vibrant cities. For those arriving from countries that require a visa on arrival, the permitted stay has been extended to 30 days from the previous 15 days.

This move has been undertaken by the Thai Government as an initiative to attract an increased number of visitors along with postgraduate students, tourists, remote workers, and retirees. This initiative commencing in June is poised to simplify entry procedures for more visitors, making travel arrangements easier and improving the overall tourism experience.

These visa extensions are expected to have a substantial economic impact, as longer stays typically result in higher spending per visitor. Additionally, the extended stays for students are anticipated to enhance cultural exchange and academic collaboration between Thailand and other countries.

As per previous reports, Thailand offered visa-free entry until May 10, 2024. This period has now been extended, allowing Indian passport holders to enjoy visa-free access for an additional six months, until November 10, 2024.
