Gates of Yamunotri Temple are set to open on May 10th filling the air with a sense of spiritual anticipation, beckoning devotees to embark on a journey of faith and devotion.
As the spiritual fervor begins to sweep through the pristine valleys of Uttarakhand, the announcement of the opening dates for the revered Yamunotri Temple marks the initiation of the sacred Chardham Yatra for 2024. Amidst the majestic Himalayan peaks, the temple, dedicated to the goddess Yamuna, is set to open its doors to devotees from May 10th, continuing its divine embrace until October 31st.
Nestled at an altitude of 3,235 meters above sea level, considered one of the holiest shrines in Hinduism, Yamunotri is one of the Chota Chardham temples, attracting pilgrims from far and wide. The annual pilgrimage to the Chardham, comprising Yamunotri, Gangotri, Kedarnath, and Badrinath, holds immense significance for millions of devotees across the globe.
The auspicious date which is May 10th has been chosen based on the Hindu Panchang, coinciding with Akshay Tritiya, a day of immense significance. Morning and evening Aarti at the temple will take place at 6:30 to 07:30 AM and 06:30 to 07:30 PM, respectively.
For general darshan, temple doors will remain open from 7:30 AM to 12:00 PM and from 2 PM to 8 PM. No darshan will be allowed between 12 PM and 2 PM daily. Pilgrims are recommended to plan their trip shortly after the temple's opening or just before its closure. During this time, the weather remains favorable and perfect for trekking. It's advisable to avoid the monsoon season, (late June to August), due to heavy rains and the risk of landslides.
