  • Isha Yoga Centre

Located just 1 Km from Coimbatore, the Isha Yoga Centre is part of the Isha Foundation, a non-profit and non-religious centre founded by Sadhguru Jaggi Vasudev. The centre is situated at the base of the picturesque Velliangiri Mountains, providing visitors with a tranquil and peaceful atmosphere. 

The centre runs various yoga and wellness programs for people. The famous 112-feet large bust sculpture of Adiyogi Shiva is installed here. The bust is now a landmark and is among the popular Coimbatore tourist places.

  • VOC Park and Zoo

V O Chidambaranar park and the zoo is one of the best places to visit in Coimbatore with friends and family. A zoological garden and an amusement park, the place houses more than 500 animals. The park is an excellent way to educate kids about different types of animals.

The park has a designated play area for kids, a Jurassic park with life-sized replicas of dinosaurs, and an aquarium. You can also munch on some delectable snacks at a restaurant inside the park premises. 

  • Marudamalai Temple

Situated on the top of a hill surrounding the Western Ghats, the 12th-century Marudamalai temple is an important religious place in Coimbatore. Lord Murugan, or Kartikeya, is the preceding deity of the temple. An excellent example of Dravidian architecture, its Gopuram (entrance door) fascinates tourists with its intricate and colourful carvings.

  • Siruvani Dam

One of the best places to visit near Coimbatore is the Siruvani Dam. The dam is located in the Palakkad district and is 47.8 Km away from Coimbatore. The majority of the water supply in Coimbatore is dependent on this dam. The lush green reserve forests surrounding the dam and a nearby waterfall are major tourist attractions. 

  • Gedee Car Museum

One of the unique Coimbatore places to visit is the GeDee car museum. Named after the legendary inventor and industrialist G D Naidu, the museum houses many german, Japanese, French, and American vintage cars. Tech enthusiasts can see various scientific inventions and electronic gadgets from the 50s to date.  

  • Palakkad Fort

The Palakkad Fort is in Kerala but is at a drivable distance of 52.4 km from Coimbatore. Very little is known about the fort's origin. Sultan Hayder Ali, the father of Tipu Sultan, rebuilt the fort in 1766. The fort is now a major attraction for history buffs.  

  • Ukkadam-Valankulam Lake

A lake right inside a bustling modern metropolis is a pleasant surprise. Ukkadam-Valankulam lake is one of Coimbatore’s famous places thronged by tourists and locals alike. The serene lake is ideal for watching the sunset. Birdwatchers can see various exotic birds like little grebes, purple moorhen, etc., around this lake.

  • Catherine Falls

Located in Kotagiri, Nilgiris district, Catherine falls is one of the major tourist places to visit in Tamil Nadu. The upper fall of this magnificent double-cascaded waterfall is the second-highest in the Nilgiris mountains. You can view the entire waterfall from the top of Dolphin’s Nose. The top of the waterfalls is accessible by road.
