2. Bylakuppe

About 40km from Madikeri is the Tibetan settlement of Bylakuppe. You can head here to enjoy Tibetan cuisine and say a prayer at the Namdroling Monastery, which is home to an awe-inspiring 18m golden Buddha statue. It’s a wonderful place to teach your children about the Buddhist culture and way of life. It’s also called “golden temple” because of the golden inlay work in its design.

3. Dubare Elephant Camp

This elephant camp is a delightful place to visit with your children as they will be fascinated looking at the animals splashing water into the Cauvery river. This place makes for a fun picnic spot where you can relax and bond together as a family.

4. Abbey Falls

This spectacular waterfall cascades down from a height of 70feet and makes for a stunning view. Surrounding it are the lofty Western Ghats, which provide a much verdant landscape to go for walks and treks. There’s also a suspension bridge that offers the best vantage point for photographs. Apart from Abbey falls there are many beautiful waterfalls in Coorg such as Irrupu Falls and Mallalli Falls.
