Situated amidst the suburbs of Himachal is Naldehra, a town just 18km to the Northeast of Shimla. Most of us have been to Himachal and Shimla is a place that is always on everyone’s list. Naldehra is a place that uses a lot of yoghurt in its cooking, Khoru is a soup that is yoghurt based and garnished with coriander leaves. The flavours come from cumin, jaggery and poppy seed bread and this unusual mixture of flavours is something that is served piping hot at the resort. Starting your meal with soup and followed by famous dishes like Madra. The meats are cooked in yoghurt gravy with traditional methods like Khatta Ghosht and Murgh Anardana and are served hot; these are dishes that you can enjoy while you watch the snow and spend time with your family.
Naldehra has a couple of temples such as Mahakali, Jakhoo and Kali Ka Tibba. The forests have horse riding and other activities that your children can indulge in and the cold breeze along with the wind that gushes on your face will leave you famished for the day’s meal ahead. 35 kms away from the resort are hot water springs that one can visit, a place that truly speaks volumes about the culture of this destination, Tattapani is a must-visit when you book your stay at Naldehra.
The Natu Peak at Narkanda offers slopes for skiing and is a destination that is at an elevation of 2708 mt. The dense pine forests provide a spectacular view of the snow range and this is a great activity for your kids to indulge in. The Hatu Peak provides a striking panorama of the planes below and the ancient temple of Hatu Mata comes alive with skiers.
Shali Peak is a forest near the resort for trekking and if you wish to get adventurous, this is a place worth visiting.
