The north-eastern state of Sikkim is an enchanting place. Rich biodiversity, subtropical mountain climate, and the mighty Kanchenjunga, the third highest mountain in the world- the beauty of India's least populous state is ethereal. Additionally, it is now the world's first 100 percent organic state.
Unsurprisingly, there are many places to visit in Sikkim. Places like Gangtok, Tsomgo lake, and Nathu La pass are already very popular tourist destinations. However, it is crucial to know the best time to visit Sikkim beforehand to avoid any last-minute discomfort.
While both summer and winter can be the best season to visit Sikkim, travellers should avoid the monsoon season. From July to October, the state experiences heavy rainfall making the roads dangerous and prone to landslides.

As most parts of India reel under scorching heat in the summers, Sikkim experiences a pleasantly cool temperature ranging from 5°C to 25°C, making it the best weather to visit Sikkim. This time of the year also witnesses the blooming of the orchids and rhododendrons unique to the area. The trekking routes across various routes also open up for adventure seekers.
Moreover, you can also enjoy the International flower festival held in Gangtok in May.

The winter season lasts for four months, from November to February. Sikkim is situated at a high altitude and witnesses an extremely cold winter season, with the temperature dropping between 7°C to -5°C. Additionally, the temperature drops below the freezing temperature almost every night.
Despite all this, the winter season, especially December, can be the best month to visit Sikkim because of the snow. Sikkim receives regular snowfall during the winter months, a rare among Indian states. Most of the state is covered with a thick blanket of snow, making it a sight to behold. Water in famous lakes like Gurudongmar Lake and Tsango Lake becomes completely frozen, providing a different picture of the otherwise pristine waterbodies.

Alternatively, you can just relax and unwind at a good hotel and explore the locality.
Club Mahindra Gangtok is one of the best resorts in Gangtok to stay with your family and unwind in the tranquil surroundings of the resort. You can plan your Sikkim exploration from here.
Gangtok, Sikkim's capital, is linked to Siliguri in West Bengal through NH 10, the main road connecting Sikkim to the rest of India. Private buses and tourist cabs regularly ply on this road.
Besides, the state now has its own airport at Pakyong town, located 30 km from the state capital Gangtok.
