India is known for producing some of the best varieties of mangoes in the world. The Indian Alphonso is popular globally. Many people in India wait for the arrival of the summers just to have the mangoes. While most people love having the whole mango fruit, in India, the king of fruit for making several dishes and mango drinks like mango lassi, aamras (mango pulp extract), and many more.Â
If you are a mango lover, you would know about the International Mango Festival, an annual two-day event held in Delhi every year in the month of June or July. This year 2022, the event will be held on the 9th and 10thJuly. This mega event celebrates the king of fruits, and displays a variety of mangoes.Â
During the two-day event, people from all over India come to Delhi to celebrate this festival with great zeal. The event is organised by the Delhi Tourism Board in Association with the Delhi Government at Dilli Haat, Pitampura. This mango festival has been celebrated in many places across India, including Hyderabad, Mumbai, Pune, Bihar, Chandigarh and Madhya Pradesh. In Delhi the festival is held every year since 1987.

Every year, the organisers of Delhi Mango Festivals come with different activities to entertain the visitors. This year, one of the major highlights is the mango quiz, mango eating competition and the sale of many mango-related goodies such as mango jam, fresh mango pulp, mango summer drinks, mango chutney, aam papad, etc. Also, another important attraction this year at the event is the sale of different varieties of mango saplings. You can buy these saplings and plant them in your backyard or locality.Â
The organisers of the Delhi Mango Fest 2022 have invited many food-processing companies and agro industries to be a part of the mango eating competition, offering them a chance to showcase their products. As a visitor, you can get a taste of these items for free. Apart from tasting all the goodies, you can also meet and interact with the leading mango producers and exporters in the country.Â
The exports bring their produce and the fragrance of different varieties of delicious and juicy mangoes fill the air at Dilli Hatt. Visitors can also see, taste, and buy these mangoes coming from different states at the event. These different varieties have different taste, texture, smell, and colour. Â
For example, the Alphonso or Hapus from Ratnagiri have a bright golden-yellow colour and are oval shaped. Langra from Varanasi has a green tinge and is much thinner than Alphonso. But, no matter what variety you have, you can reap the many health benefits of mangoes. The king of all fruits is packed with many essential nutrients that support heart health, improves digestive health, and boosts immunity. Â
Apart from relishing on the delicious mangoes and mango products, while you are the event, you can also enjoy watching and participating in the art and craft shows. Also, there are music shows, and dance performances to entertain the guests.Â
