In the 1870s, it was John Daniel Munro, who decided to introduce the world to Munnar, when he stumbled upon this gorgeous region. This is a fragrant and gorgeous sandalwood forest that is said to be the site of a civilization dating back to 10,000 B.C. It houses Stone Age rock paintings, dolmens, and rock edicts that stand as a testament to this civilization.

Dating back to the Megalithic Age, these ancient burial chambers are located about 45kilometers outside of Munnar on the slopes of the Nilgiris. They are structures made of four standing stones and one stone roof. They house burial cists and rock paintings. You can trek up to this pre-historic site and teach your kids about evolution.
 
This is a great place to show your kids about tea cultivation in Munnar. Filled with old machines, curios, memorabilia, and photographs, this is the best place to learn about tea.
